Benefit of Galvanizing
- Most economical cost. Galvanizing is lower in first cost than many other protective coatings for steel are commonly prescribed.
- No need of maintenance / low cost long term. Even in cases where the initial cost of galvanizing is higher than alternative coatings, galvanizing is almost always the cheapest in the long run (because it lasts longer and require less maintenance).
- The length of life. Life expectancy of galvanized coatings on typical structural members is far more than 50 years, in the rural environment can add up to 20 to 25 years, even in urban and coastal exposure to risk.
- Reliability. Galvanizing done according to 4680 standards, and standards, a minimum thickness of the coating is applied consistently.
- A galvanized coating has a unique metallurgical structure which gives outstanding resistance to mechanical damage in transport, erection and service.
- Automatic protection for damaged areas. Galvanized coatings corrode preferentially to steel, providing cathodic protection or detail on a small area of steel exposed through damage.
- A very complete protection. Every part of a galvanized article is protected, even moderate, sharp corners and inaccessible areas. There is no coating applied to a structure or fabrication after completion can provide the same protection.
- Ease of inspection. Galvanized coating easily judged by eye, and the thickness of the method is simple non-destructive testing can be used.
- Faster processing time. Accepted as galvanized steel is ready for use. No time is lost for a long wait.
- A full protective coating can be applied in a matter of minutes, a 4-coat paint system requires a week. Galvanizing process is not dependent on weather conditions
